Ben and Amanda first met on the beautiful island of Okinawa while both assigned to the 1st Special Forces Group, US Army.
Amanda had just arrived on the island in June of 2018. A coworker knew Ben was leaving his apartment and Amanda needed a new place to rent so the two were introduced. Ben (unknowingly) knew the way to Amanda’s heart by inviting her out to eat at all of the Okinawan restaurants! The two began spending more time together and their feelings grew quickly. Soon after Ben departed to his next assignment, he and Amanda decided their relationship was something special and they didn’t want to give up just yet.
The next year of long distance was spent on daily FaceTime chats and traveling to see each other.
The couple traveled back and forth for work and vacation to Okinawa, Seattle, Seoul, Houston, Salt Lake, New York, Gulfport - wherever they could be together; spending much needed time with family and loved ones, or sometimes on just the two of them.
Thanksgiving 2019 couldn’t be a more fitting engagement day! They did what they loved, celebrating with family and then driving through the North and South Islands of New Zealand in a camper van.
