Nick and Jill met in 2017 when they were both cadets at the United States Military Academy at West Point. Nick graduated and commissioned as a 2LT in the US Army in 2017, and Jill transferred to Penn State University, graduating in 2019 with a degree in psychology.
After a year of long-distance they moved to Texas for Nick’s first assignment at Fort Hood.
A few months later, Nick popped the question on a hike on their favorite trail.
The pair loves to hike with their two dogs, Charon and Cedar, so it was only fitting! They were so excited to be married, but Nick’s schedule made it nearly impossible to plan a wedding. In typical Army fashion, the couple went to the courthouse on January 19th, 2019, and vowed to love each other forever in a beautifully intimate ceremony in front of their immediate family. They had plans to have a wedding celebration in 2020, but Nick ended up deploying and they had to put their plans on hold, yet again.
The Army has made things difficult for them, but it has only made their love for each other stronger.
Their love and dreams for their future together help them persevere through each separation. They look forward to having their friends and family come to Texas to finally celebrate their love when Nick returns home from a year-long deployment.
