I was enlisted for 4 years in the Navy and then I got accepted to the Naval Academy. On a summer training, the Navy sent me to Israel to learn Arabic, Samuel was also on that training and we became great friends (he was really bad at Arabic).
We went to Jerusalem one weekend and were told to put a prayer request in the Wailing Wall. Mine read "Lord please prepare my heart and send me a husband".
I never imagined that he was already there with me on that study abroad.
Over two years later, we are still in this amazing, and crazy, military-themed love story together (and Samuel is still pretty bad at Arabic). He commissioned as a submarine officer last year and I will commission as a surface warfare officer in May of 2021.
